Residents' parking for 1,000 homes
Almost 1,000 St Peter Port households will soon be included in residents' parking schemes.

The Traffic Committee is asking islanders to give their views on plans to extend the existing initiative.

There are plans to add Valnord Hill, Valnord Road and Mount Durand to the scheme as well as Park Street and its junction with Rue du Pre.

People living there will be eligible for parking permits allowing them to leave their cars in their streets throughout the day, with the two-hour limit only applying to other motorists.

It is hoped the measure will cut peak time congestion in St Peter Port.

It is thought this is partially caused by the large number of people who move their cars throughout the day to avoid getting parking tickets.
