Staff had complained their health was being endangered |
Incinerator waste at the centre of a health scare at Guernsey's Princess Elizabeth Hospital has been declared safe.Staff had complained their health was being endangered by toxic fly ash from the hospital's incinerator.
But an investigation carried out by Guernsey's Health and Safety Executive (HSE), which took half a day, found there was minimal risk from the material.
The Health Board's health and safety manager, Michael Earp, says the matter was handled quickly but thoroughly.
"The HSE came up and had a look at our processes and had a look at our storage methods," he said.
"They were quite happy we are complying with their requirements that they are asking us to comply with and everything is okay and no staff are being put at undue risk.
"It was carried out so quickly because the HSE is fully aware of what we have been doing on site."
