Hospital virus is identified
Princess Elizabeth Hospital, Guernsey
The affected ward at the hospital will re-open on Monday

The virus which forced the closure of a ward at Guernsey's Princess Elizabeth Hospital has been identified as a Norovirus.

The virus causes stomach upsets, cramps and low fevers but most people recover in 24 to 48 hours.

One patient from the hospital's Arnold ward still has mild symptoms, but all the other patients have been clear since Thursday evening.

The ward will re-open on Monday morning once staff have been able to clean everywhere.

The Board of Health is reminding the public that they should not visit older relatives in hospitals or homes if they are suffering from any of the symptoms.
