The UK Chancellor, Alistair Darling, has said it is for the countries that use the euro, not Britain, to support the European single currency.
His comments come as EU finance ministers meet in Brussels to discuss establishing a new "stabilisation mechanism" to prevent the Greek debt crisis from spreading.
