Social housing in balance
The future of a large social housing development in Jersey is unclear because of concerns over whether it represents value for taxpayers.

The Finance Committee wants more information before work on the Le Coie site can start.

The States purchased the site near Springfield Stadium in St Helier for about 4m.

The intention was to let a housing trust develop the area into one and two-bedroom flats.

But there is a question over whether this sort of development is actually needed.

Housing President Deputy Terry Le Main has been reported as saying the market is "saturated".

Finance President Senator Terry Le Sueur said his committee wanted more information about what is being planned for Le Coie.

His committee will meet Housing in the first week of November.
