Impounded ferry sails
Ferry
The ferry was permitted to sail on Wednesday evening
The car ferry impounded by Jersey authorities following a dispute over harbours fees has been released.

Emeraude Lines' Solidor Five left St Helier Harbour late on Wednesday night.

The car ferry was allowed to sail following an eight-hour meeting between the president of Harbours and Airport Committee, French administrators and representatives of the ferry company.

A statement from the Harbours Department said "sufficient comfort" was provided by the administrator in respect of outstanding and ongoing harbour dues.

The vessel was seized by the department earlier this week over a dispute about harbour dues.

The Harbours and Airport Committee claimed it was owed 300,000, but Emeraude disputed that saying it owes 85,000.

Emeraude filed for protection from bankruptcy in St Malo last week with debts said to be in the region of four million euros.
