Complaints about graveyard
Flowers in graveyard
Only approved headstones are now allowed for graves
There have been renewed complaints about the state of some parts of a Guernsey cemetery.

The Board of Administration is writing to people who own plots at Le Foulon Cemetery in St Peter Port about the need to keep the area tidy and safe.

Contractors, staff and members of the public have told the board the lawned cemetery areas are not being properly or safely maintained.

Each plot is designed to take only one headstone, but the trend for placing other items on the graves is making it difficult to mow the areas, fuelling problems and complaints.

A year ago it was decided that items other than approved headstones and memorials should be removed.

The board has written to all the plot owners it has been able to trace, but some may have changed address.

Any plot owners who have not received a letter within seven days is asked to contact the Board of Administration.
