There is new hope for parents of children involved with drugs in Guernsey. Dads and Mums Against Drugs (DMAD) is a self-help group set up by parents for parents.
The first meeting was held on Wednesday night.
A recent report revealed the use of crack cocaine and heroin in Guernsey is on the increase.
Guernsey drug worker John Webb was pleased to have been invited to the first meeting.
He said parents often become paralysed by anger and guilt because they blame themselves for the problem when it is beyond their control.
He welcomed news of the new group and said the more parents share experiences and get the facts the better they will cope with the anxieties of having a young drug user in the family.
