Islanders unite to clean beaches
Oil pollution
Signs have been put up warning people of the pollution
People power is being used to help clean up one of Jersey's most popular beaches.

Lumps of oil have been washed up on many of the island's beaches during the past week.

It is thought to be coming from the tanker Prestige, which sank in the Atlantic off the Spanish coast.

The clean-up, organised by Lindsay Hawkin, is taking place at St Ouens Bay on Sunday afternoon.

The island's Public Services Department says it is trying to keep people informed of where the oil is and has put up red signs in St Ouens Bay, St Brelades Bay and St Aubin's Bay.

Public Services beach cleaning teams have been working overtime and diggers have been used to clear up the mess.
