Emergency services were put on alert at Jersey airport on Wednesday afternoon after an RAF Harrier reported problems coming in to land. It is understood the pilot of the GR3 Harrier reported a fuel warning as he was preparing to land.
The aircraft's hydraulic system, which controlled its flaps and landing gear, was affected.
The pilot managed to land safely but was unable to taxi to a hangar because he was unsure if the brakes would work.
The jet will not be used in Thursday's Battle of Britain Air Display over Jersey and Guernsey, but a replacement Harrier is being prepared to take part.
The Ministry of Defence has launched an investigation after an RAF Red Arrows plane overshot the runway at Jersey Airport as it came into land on Tuesday.
Neither the pilot nor co-pilot was injured.
The Red Arrows, based at RAF Scampton, were arriving in the island to take part in the Battle of Britain Air Display.
