Six fined over pub fracas
Five Jersey men have appeared before magistrates in Guernsey after a brawl in the streets of St Peter Port.

Oliver Nightingale, 20, of St Mary, Luke Aubert, 19, Andrew Gent, 22, Robert Williams, 19, and Liam Sutton, 19, all from St Brelade, along with Damien Drummy, 22, of St Sampsons in Guernsey, admitted disorderly behaviour and obstructing the police on Saturday afternoon.

The court heard that a group of 45 young people from Jersey were in the island celebrating several birthdays.

Police were called when fighting started outside the Red Onion in Lefebre Street, where the group was drinking.

All six defendants were fined 500. One of the Jersey men was also sentenced to 14 days youth detention after admitting assaulting a policeman and fined 300 for possessing cannabis resin.

Magistrate Russell Finch told the court it was an alarming and upsetting incident and the public had the right not to be harassed.
