Jersey Methodists and Anglicans rejected the idea earlier this year |
Jersey's Anglican and Methodist churches could work more closely in future. At its annual meeting, the Methodist conference voted in favour of entering into a covenant with the Church of England.
Earlier this year, Jersey Methodists and Anglicans rejected the idea of a covenant between the two denominations.
The Methodist Conference in Britain voted by 270 votes to 86 in favour.
Channel Island Methodists say they will now follow the conference's lead and sign the covenant if it is accepted by the Church of England Synod when it votes in a few weeks time.
It is hoped the covenant will establish a formal working relationship between both denominations.
