Mont Orgueil is one of Jersey's largest castles |
Proposals to renovate one of Jersey's best known landmarks have been formally put to the island's planning authorities.
The Jersey Heritage Trust is planning an extensive programme of conservation and restoration at Mont Orgeuil.
The public is paying 3m to restore the castle, but conservationists are deeply divided over the proposals.
Many of the arguments centre around the extent to which the ancient building should be developed.
Even if the scheme is approved by the Planning authorities, it is unlikely the work will be completed by the 800th anniversary next year.
