The Good Beach Guide singles out 10 locations |
Volunteers who help keep Jersey's beaches clean are being asked to continue their work.
The request comes after 10 beaches were mentioned in the Marine Conservation Society's Good Beach Guide.
Ranging from St Ouen's Bay to Archirondel, all beaches tested in the survey have to meet certain criteria, such as the highest European water quality standards.
However, the Jersey Beachwatch organisation has said it still wants more people to get involved in beach cleaning to keep up standards.
Sewage treatment
Beachwatch Coordinator Jez Payne says large numbers of people turn out to clean the beaches on designated clean up days.
However, he said the perception that Jersey's beaches are clean often discourages people from monitoring cleanliness or taking part in organised beachwatch activities.
Even with the accolade about how clean the beaches are, the Beachwatch group has said more people still need be encouraged to get involved.
The Marine Conservation Society said: "Jersey again has 10 recommended beaches, which is not surprising considering that it has one of the most comprehensive sewage treatment programmes in Britain, including tertiary treatment with nutrient stripping to combat algal blooms."
