The new signs measure speed in a similar way to hand-held cameras |
Jersey motorists who drive too fast could have their speed flashed up on new road signs. Research shows speeding is the main cause of accidents and injuries on the island's roads.
The "speed visor" works in a similar way to the hand-held guns police use to measure how fast a car is travelling.
One sign has already been put up on St Aubin's inner road and another in Gorey.
As a car approaches, its speed is displayed - but only if the motorist is breaking the limit.
The signs are moveable and they could be used elsewhere in Jersey if the current campaign proves a success.
