Harbour clean-up plan put forward
St Sampson's Harbour
The plans involves removing toxic sediment from the harbour
A campaign to save Guernsey's St Sampson's Harbour has been given a boost with a plan to clean up the harbour.

Deputy Mary Lowe has tabled an amendment which would see a clear-up operation of any toxic sediment.

It also proposes a review of the layout of the moorings.

St Sampson's could then take more boats. However, the look of the area would stay unaltered.

Amendment support

Deputy Lowe said Guernsey is already spending a lot of money on new schools, courts and a prison extension.

She argues that to bring in yet another big cash project would "be madness".

Deputy Dave Jones has been against the marina plans from the outset, but is now giving his support to the amendment.

He said it is the best way forward economically.
