The Board will present tenders for a 350-berth marina |
Controversial proposals for a marina at a Guernsey harbour will come before the States at a meeting later this month. The Board of Administration will present the tenders for the construction of a 350-berth marina at St Sampson's Harbour for approval in the March Billet.
The budget, initially approved by the States, was 1.75m, but problems with toxic sediments in the existing harbour meant this figure had to be increased by a further 1m.
The Board's preferred contractor is Miller and Baird, with a tender price of 2.95m.
The marina would use conventional pontoons and a single tide-operated gate.
The Board is also asking the States for another 280,000 for the reclamation of the area of land to the east of the Marine and General boatyard.
The proposals have the backing of the Advisory and Finance committee.
