 Disney Pixar's Up also topped the US box office |
Disney Pixar's latest animation Up has gone straight to the top of the UK box office on its opening weekend. The movie, about an old man who ties balloons to his house to make it airborne, took £6.4m. Comedy Zombieland opened in second taking £1.2m. The Invention of Lying dropped a place to number three, taking £1.1m, while Fame dropped from the top spot to number four, with £906,877. The film, co-starring Aaron Eckhart, took £559,724 on its opening weekend. It narrowly beat horror movie Halloween II, which took £522,661 - also on its opening weekend - into sixth place. Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs dropped from four to seven, with £359,666, while Surrogates dropped from five to eight, with £324,779.
