Animation Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs has knocked sci-fi drama District 9 off the top of the UK and Ireland box office chart. The 3D comedy, voiced by actors including James Caan and Mr T, took £1.6m in its opening weekend. District 9 is at number two after two weeks at the top, taking £810,673. Sci-fi thriller Gamer, starring Gerard Butler, opened at number four, with £641,568, while (500) Days of Summer moved up a place to number four. The top five was rounded out by 3D horror The Final Destination. British football hooligan film The Firm was a new entry at number nine, taking £310,060. Sam Mendes comedy drama Away We Go, meanwhile, opened at number 10 with £250,211. Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs was adapted from a 1978 children's book of the same name by Judi and Ron Barrett.
