The new Star Trek prequel has gone straight to the top of the UK box office, grossing nearly £6m in its first four days. Director JJ Abrams' prequel to the sci-fi franchise beat another new entry to the top slot, an animated adaptation of Neil Gaiman's book Coraline. Coraline made £2.4m between Friday and Sunday. The Star Trek figures include receipts from Thursday's previews. Star Trek stars newcomer Chris Pine in the lead role as James T Kirk at the start of his adventures with the Starfleet. The remainder of the top 10 was made up of older films dropping down the chart, including Hannah Montana: The Movie, now at number four, and political thriller State of Play, which dropped from three to six. The next highest new entry was Stephen Frears' romantic period drama Cheri, starring Michelle Pfeiffer and Kathy Bates, at number 11.
