Film stands top of UK box office

Keanu Reeves and Jennifer Connelly star in The Day The Earth Stood Still

Sci-Fi thriller The Day The Earth Stood Still, starring Keanu Reeves and Jennifer Connelly, has debuted at the top of the UK box office.

The movie, which took �2.7m in its opening weekend, beat last week's top film, animated comedy Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa, into second place.

Vince Vaughn's seasonal movie Four Christmases was in third place, followed by new release Inkheart.

Debuting in fifth place was Bollywood film Rab Ne Bana De Jodi.

The film, featuring Bollywood star Shahrukh Khan, took �403,842 from just 60 screens across the UK.
