Welsh band set for Kerrang! trio

Lostprophets have also been shortlisted for best live act

Rock group the Lostprophets have been nominated for best British band at the Kerrang! awards - and could win the honour for the third year running.

But the Welsh act were outdone by 30 Seconds To Mars and Bullet For My Valentine, who gained four nods each.

Mars, fronted by US actor Jared Leto, is shortlisted for best single, video, international band and best live act.

The awards ceremony takes place in London on 21 August, with the winners voted for by Kerrang! readers.

'Flattered'

Other acts in the running for best British band are Bring Me The Horizon, You Me At Six, Biffy Clyro and Welsh metallers Bullet For My Valentine.

The latter are up against Avenged Sevenfold, Cancer Bats, In Flames and Mindless Self Indulgence in the best album category.

The band's Matt Tuck said of their four nominations: "We never though we'd get that many so we are flattered.

"If we walk away with one we'll be over the moon," he added.

International rock acts are also set to be awarded, with US band Avenged Sevenfold and Canadian rage act Cancer Bats among the hopefuls.
