The 13th annual Kerrang! awards, which have taken place in London, were hosted by radio presenter Stuart Cable. They honour some of the best and loudest stars in rock music. The big winners on the night were Welsh act Lostprophets. They took Best British Band and Best Album, for Liberation Transmission. Strong backing from fans on website Myspace.com helped Sheffield band Bring Me The Horizon take the Best British Newcomer prize - and they were clearly thrilled. Angus Young of AC/DC was on the cover of the first issue of Kerrang! magazine. He received the Legend Award. Rock group Slayer were entered into the Kerrang! Hall Of Fame. Both they and the magazine are celebrating their 25th year in 2006. The Prodigy were a controversial choice for the magazine's Spirit Of Independence award - as they are more usually known as a dance act. Meat Loaf arrived at the awards ceremony on a truck with singer Marion Raven - who duets with him on his latest Bat Out of Hell album. Meat Loaf said that when he was younger, "Kerrang did everything for me. It was fantastic, absolutely amazing."
