 Ritchie's next film RocknRolla will open in the UK in September |
Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels director Guy Ritchie will write and direct a reworking of super sleuth Sherlock Holmes, according to reports. The film will take its cues from a new comic which gives a modern take on the Sir Arthur Conan Doyle character, The Hollywood Reporter says. The new Sherlock Holmes will be less stuffy and more adventurous than previous screen incarnations, it adds. It will appear in cinemas in 2010, according to Internet Movie Database. Many actors have portrayed the character on both the big and small screens including Michael Caine, Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing. Ritchie's next project, crime caper RocknRolla, starring Bond girl Gemma Arterton, in UK cinemas in September.
