Film-maker Guy Ritchie is to make a big screen version of comic series The Gamekeeper, according to film trade publication Variety. Ritchie devised the comic idea, while the story - about a reclusive caretaker who has a dark past - was originally penned by author Andy Diggle.
The Gamekeeper comic was part of a series of stories created by film-makers including Terry Gilliam.
Ritchie is currently filming RocknRolla starring Thandie Newton.
Jeff Robinov, a production president from Warner Bros who are set to make the film, said: "After reading Guy's comics we knew instantly that the action-packed story and complex characters would resonate with film audiences."
Ritchie, 38, the husband of pop star Madonna, directed the British gangster movies Snatch and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.
He cast the singer as his star in the 2002 film Swept Away, which received a critical mauling and was released straight to DVD in the UK.
