Actor Sutherland granted divorce

Sutherland's films include Flatliners, The Lost Boys and Young Guns

Actor Kiefer Sutherland has been granted a divorce from his estranged wife Elizabeth Kelly Winn, according to court documents filed in Los Angeles.

Sutherland, 41, filed for divorce from his wife in 2004 citing irreconcilable differences.

The couple, who married in 1996, have been separated since 1999 and have no children.

Sutherland was previously married for three years to actress Camelia Kath, with whom he had a daughter.

He was also once engaged to actress Julia Roberts, with whom he appeared in the 1990 film Flatliners.

Jail term

The London-born actor is best known for his role as counter-terrorism agent Jack Bauer in TV series 24.

US TV channel Fox has announced the seventh season of the real-time drama series will be preceded in November by a two-hour special.

Production on the seventh season of 24 was suspended because of the Hollywood writers' strike.

Earlier this year Sutherland - the son of veteran Canadian actor Donald - completed a 48-day sentence for drink driving at Glendale city jail.
