Meanwhile in a new development on the North American box office chart, Speed Racer fell to third place after film studios over-estimated its success by $1.6m (820,000). Initial forecasts placed the film in second place after its opening weekend on $20.2m (10.4m), but final figures revised this total to $18.6m (9.5m). The film - made by the Wachowski brothers, best-known for The Matrix franchise - cost $120m (61.6m) to make.
