Teen comedy Superbad has topped the nominations for the MTV Movie Awards, having been listed in five categories. The film is up for best movie while its stars, Jonah Hill and Michael Cera, are in the running for best actor. Others hoping to win a "golden popcorn" award - the trophy is a gold-coloured popcorn tub - include Juno, with four nominations, and Enchanted, with three. The winners, chosen by MTV viewers, will be announced at a ceremony on 1 June in Universal City, California. Superbad, which follows a day in the life of two high-school geeks, proved to be a surprise hit at the box office. It generated nearly $170 million (�86.8 million) worldwide. In the best movie category, it will compete against National Treasure: Book of Secrets, I Am Legend, Transformers and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End. Summer success Actors battling it out to be crowned best villain include Johnny Depp for his role in Sweeney Todd and Angelina Jolie in Beowulf. Topher Grace is also nominated for best villain for Spider-Man 3, while Oscar-winner Javier Bardem and Denzel Washington feature for No Country for Old Men and American Gangster respectively. Enchanted star Amy Adams scored three individual nominations - best comedic performance, best female performance and best kiss, with Patrick Dempsey. A new category will also be unveiled this year: best summer movie so far. The nominations are Iron Man, Sex and the City, Speed Racer, The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. The awards poke fun at Hollywood ceremonies such as the Oscars with categories including best kiss, and have become known for their humour and star power. Viewers can vote for the winners online until 23 May.
