X Files movie sequel given name

David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson in The X Files: I Want To Believe
The new film stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson

The second big screen outing of The X Files is to be subtitled I Want To Believe, series creator Chris Carter has said.

The phrase is familiar to fans of the sci-fi programme, as it appeared on a poster in agents Mulder and Scully's basement office.

"It's a natural title," Carter told the Associated Press. "It really does suggest Mulder's faith struggle."

The sequel, due for release in July, comes a decade after the first film.
