Winehouse is adding Bestival to her festival commitments |
Amy Winehouse is to make her first headlining appearance at a UK festival when she plays this year's Bestival on the Isle of Wight. She joins dance duo Underworld and cult rockers My Bloody Valentine at the top of the bill at the event, which runs from 5 to 7 September. Other acts due to make an appearance include Hot Chip, Will Young and hip-hop pioneers The Sugarhill Gang. Organisers said tickets were very close to selling out. Winehouse is also due to play at Scotland's T in the Park event, held at Balado, Kinross-shire in July, Irish festival Oxegen and V Festival at Chelmsford and Weston Park, Staffordshire, in August. Bestival's curator, Radio 1 DJ Rob da Bank, said Underworld were "taking their rightful position in a Sunday night headline slot". My Bloody Valentine play on Friday, with Winehouse taking to the stage on the Saturday night. The Coral, Stereo MCs, Laura Marling and Lethal Bizzle also feature in the line-up.
