Cranford gains Bafta craft nods

Cranford has a total of 11 Bafta nominations
Costume drama Cranford dominates the shortlist for this year's Bafta craft awards, with seven nominations.

The awards, which celebrate the people behind the scenes of the TV industry, also features writers Jimmy McGovern and Doctor Who's Stephen Moffat.

Comedy duo David Croft and Jimmy Perry, responsible for hits shows like Dad's Army and Hi-de-Hi!, will receive a special award at the 11 May ceremony.

Cranford is shortlisted for four TV Baftas at 20 April's main event.

Interactive awards

Programmes with five nominations for the craft awards are Channel 4 drama Boy A, E4's Skins and Doctor Who.

In three categories dedicated to interactive services, the BBC iPlayer is pitted against social networking site Bebo.

There are also nods for the online offerings from ITV1 soap Emmerdale and BBC spy drama Spooks.

Cranford will compete against three other BBC period productions for the costume design award, including Oliver Twist and Fanny Hill.

Other award categories include production design, titles, sound and visual effects.

Cranford stars Dames Judi Dench and Eileen Atkins will go head-to-head for the best actress honour at the main ceremony.
