Morrissey is set to release a new album later this year |
British singer Morrissey has been named as a headline act at this year's 02 Wireless festival in London. The ex-Smiths frontman's appearance in Hyde Park on 4 July will be his only UK festival date this summer.
Morrissey has promised "a thundering bill of tight nerves and suavity", adding: "I will take Hyde Park like a flea inhabits a dog."
Fatboy Slim - aka DJ Norman Cook - and Counting Crows will headline the third and fourth nights at the event.
The festival runs from 3 to 6 July, with the first night's headline act yet to be announced.
'Sour face'
Morrissey's performance will be his first in the UK since he completed a sold-out British tour earlier this year.
It will also be his first in London since he was forced to cancel dates in January at the Roundhouse in Camden after losing his voice.
The singer said "art hounds and people with badly cut hair" would be welcome at the festival and that he would "do his utmost not to pull a sour face".
US singer Beck and rock band The National are also scheduled to perform on 4 July across the event's three stages.
