Controversial US talk show host Jerry Springer received an international award from actress Patsy Kensit, while actor Philip Glenister was honoured for his role as DCI Gene Hunt in Life on Mars.

The BBC's Strictly Come Dancing was voted favourite TV show - an award decided by Daily Express readers.

Theatre prizes, meanwhile, went to actor David Suchet and the cast of West End musical Cabaret.

Now in their 55th year, the awards will be broadcast on Sky later this month.
