BB twins to release Barbie Girl
Sam and Amanda Marchant
The twins did not receive any eviction nominations in the house
Big Brother twins Sam and Amanda Marchant are set to release their own version of novelty song Barbie Girl.

The single, a cover of Aqua's 1997 hit number one song, will reach the shops in October.

The 19-year-old twins, who were joint runners-up in the show, said: "It's a dream come true for us to record our favourite song of all time.

"We're just so excited about everything and keep having to pinch ourselves to make sure it's all real."

'Superstardom'

The twins - who agreed to be treated as one person for the purposes of the show - were hugely popular housemates.

Both said they were partying, shopping and all things pink and fluffy.

The pair, who are both studying social work at Manchester Metropolitan University, also sang their own "twin song" in the Big Brother house.

A spokesman for record company Sony BMG, which has signed up the twins, said: "It is a measure of how much viewers identified with the twins that they were the only Big Brother contestants never to have been nominated for a single eviction.

"They are also the only Big Brother contestants ever to have signed with a major record company. Superstardom beckons for them."

The eighth series of Big Brother was won by Brian Belo, a 20-year-old data clerk from Essex.
