Lord Attenborough has also had a distinguished acting career |
Lord Attenborough's new movie is to be shown at the Toronto Film Festival, organisers have announced. The 83-year-old veteran film-maker's Closing The Ring is among a host of galas completing this year's line-up.
Kenneth Branagh's Sleuth, starring Sir Michael Caine and Jude Law, will also screen at the festival, which runs in the Canadian city from 6-15 September.
Woody Allen's film Cassandra has already been announced as making its North American debut at the event.
Directorial debut
Other new films which have been added to the line-up include Cleaner starring Samuel L Jackson, and The Walker from screenwriter Paul Schrader, whose previous credits include Taxi Driver and The Last Temptation of Christ.
The Golden Age, sequel to 1998 film Elizabeth, will make its world premiere at the festival.
The film sees Cate Blanchett reprise her role as the Tudor monarch, and centres on a threatened invasion from Spain.
Oscar-winning actress Helen Hunt will also make her directorial debut at the Canadian event with Then She Found Me.

Actor Max Von Sydow, who appeared in a string of late director Ingmar Bergman's films, will present a screening of one of his works, The Virgin Spring.
Lord Attenborough, who won the best director and best picture Oscars in 1983 for his epic Gandhi, will also talk about the films which have inspired his career.
The festival, now in its 32nd year, will present a total of 349 films from 55 countries.
It is widely regarded as the North American launch pad for Oscar contenders, and this outing has been billed as one of the most Hollywood-heavy in years.
The Last King of Scotland, which went on to win the best actor Oscar for Forest Whittaker in February, was among the high profile films to premiere at the festival last year.
Unlike other major film festivals in the calendar, there is no official competition at Toronto.
