 Rush Hour 3 features Chan as a hapless martial arts hero |
Martial arts star Jackie Chan has topped the North American box office with his film Rush Hour 3, which also features actor Chris Tucker. The movie earned $50.2m (�24.8m) over the weekend, knocking last week's chart-topper, Matt Damon's The Bourne Ultimatum, down to second place.
The Simpsons Movie dropped to number three in the US and Canada.
However the animated comedy topped the international box office chart beating the fifth Harry Potter movie.
Fantasy film Stardust, starring Claire Danes, was new in fourth, with Disney's Underdog adventure falling to fifth.

Four movies which have been around for several weeks came next, as Hairspray - featuring John Travolta and Michelle Pfeiffer and based on a Broadway musical - dropped to sixth position.
Former chart-topper I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry, starring Adam Sandler and Kevin James, was at number seven.
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, based on the fifth novel in JK Rowling's series about the young wizard, was eighth, followed by No Reservations, starring Catherine Zeta-Jones as a chef.
There was only one other new entry in the top 10 - Daddy Day Camp, which went in at number 10.
The sequel to the comedy Daddy Day Care, it stars Cuba Gooding Jr as a man who oversees a family holiday.
