Action film star Jackie Chan has been injured during filming for his latest movie in the US.

Chan, famous for doing his own stunts in elaborate fight sequences, was hit in the chest by a table during a scene for the upcoming Rush Hour 3.

The injury is in the same place the 52-year-old actor was hurt earlier this year when kicked by a stuntman.

Writing on his website, Chan said a doctor found no serious damage but he was required to take painkillers.

"I was in a lot of pain because it was in the same spot where I had gotten hurt during the filming of Rob-B-Hood," he said.

He added that he had tried to work through the discomfort but had been ordered to a doctor by the film company.

Chan has suffered numerous injuries throughout his career, the worst was a brain haemorrhage while filming Armour of God.

He said in an interview last year he usually feels pain in his waist, knees and shoulders when he wakes up.
