 Bobby Davro plays "loveable rogue" Vince Monks |
Comedian and impressionist Bobby Davro is joining the cast of EastEnders. A spokeswoman for the BBC One soap said he starts filming on Wednesday and that episodes featuring the comedian will be broadcast from the end of September.
Davro, who appeared on a number of TV shows in the 80s and 90s, will play Vince Monks, "a loveable rogue".
His character tries to win the affection of barmaid Shirley Carter, played by Linda Henry, after their paths cross when he knocks her over.
His dramatic entry to Albert Square, sees Vince, who drives a "flash car" taking Shirley to hospital, said a BBC spokeswoman.
She added: "We are really excited about seeing him [Davro] on screen."
The 48-year-old, who was born Robert Nankeville, presented Bobby Davro on the Box on ITV and BBC variety show Rock with Laughter.
