Will Young found fame on talent show Pop Idol |
Pop singer Will Young is to perform at the BBC Proms in the Park next month. The star will join a line-up that already includes soprano Lesley Garrett and last year's BBC Young Musician of the Year, clarinettist Mark Simpson.
The concert takes place in London's Hyde Park on 8 September, coinciding with the Last Night of the Proms.
Former Spandau Ballet frontman Tony Hadley has also been added to the line-up for the warm-up event, due to be hosted by Dick & Dom.
The main event will also feature Peruvian tenor Juan Diego Florez and the BBC Concert Orchestra, conducted by Carl Davis.
The Proms in the Park, now in its 12th year, will be hosted by Sir Terry Wogan.
Other Proms in the Park events featuring different artists and orchestras will take place simultaneously in Glasgow, Carrickfergus Castle in Northern Ireland, Middlesbrough and Swansea.
