Brian Wilson returns to the location of his first-ever UK performance as a solo artist |
Former Beach Boy Brian Wilson will unveil his latest composition, That Lucky Old Sun, at London's Royal Festival Hall next month. Wilson, who co-founded the band in 1961, will play six nights at the venue before touring the UK.
The 65-year-old singer called That Lucky Old Sun "five rounds with interspersed spoken word".
Wilson will play six nights in London before touring Bristol, Bournemouth, Edinburgh, Manchester and Birmingham.
He will return to the Royal Festival Hall, the location of his first-ever UK performance as a solo artist, on 10 September.
He said: "I honestly can't think of a better place in the world to premiere it."
Wilson was inspired to write That Lucky Old Sun after listening to Louis Armstrong's version of the song, which was originally composed by Beasley Smith and Haven Gillespie.
Commissioned by the Southbank Centre as part of its opening season, Wilson's adaptation includes the original music and newly composed songs.
The tour runs until September 24.
