Lulu came joint first in the 1969 contest with Boom Bang-A-Bang |
The Eurovision Song Contest does not exactly have a reputation for lyrical erudition. Entrants are much more likely to Boom Bang-A-Bang or Diggi-Loo Diggi-Ley than bash out a Billy Bragg-style paean to the working classes.
But this year has seen a flurry of songs with supposed political content.
Israel, for example, attracted controversy for lyrics which appear to refer to Iran's nuclear programme.
And the Ukrainian entrant was accused of slipping in a reference to the 2005 Orange Revolution by using the phrase: "Russia goodbye".
It later transpired the artist, a drag queen called Verka Serdyuchka, was singing "condensed milk" in Mongolian.
So what are the lyrical highlights of this year's contest? Here are a few of the more memorable moments.
