Hank Williams Jr has enjoyed a 40-year career |
Country star Hank Williams Jr has had assault charges against him dismissed. A 19-year-old waitress had accused him of yelling obscenities and choking her at a Memphis hotel in March 2006.
District Attorney General Bill Gibbons would not say whether the waitress had decided to drop the case or if the parties reached a financial settlement.
Williams is the son of country legend Hank Williams, with a string of US hits including Family Tradition and All My Rowdy Friends Are Coming Over Tonight.
A lawyer hired by the waitress's parents demanded $250,000 (127,000) from Williams two days after the alleged assault, but denied that the case was driven by money.
Earlier this month, Williams filed for divorce from his fourth wife, Mary Jane.
