Cop comedy Hot Fuzz has gone straight to the top of the UK and Ireland box office chart in its opening weekend. The story of an over-achieving police officer in a sleepy village, starring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, took �5.9m.
It was ahead of children's tale Charlotte's Web, which stayed in second place, while Hugh Grant comedy Music and Lyrics fell from first to third.
Comedy spoof Epic Movie was at four, taking �890,000, with fantasy tale Arthur and the Invisibles at five.

Figures for all box office takings are from Friday to Sunday, except Hot Fuzz, which includes two extra days of previews. But it would have been number one even without those.
Oscar hopeful Leonardo DiCaprio was unchanged at six with Blood Diamond, while Notes on a Scandal, also vying for Oscar success, fell two places to seven.
Thriller Hannibal Rising fell from number four to eight after two weeks on the chart.
New romantic comedy Because I Said So, starring Diane Keaton and Mandy Moore, entered the chart at number nine.
