British rock group Bloc Party have made it into the US top 20 with their second album, A Weekend In The City.

The band landed at number 12, vastly improving on their debut, Silent Alarm, which peaked at number 114 in 2005.

Illinois pop-rock group Fall Out Boy are number one, selling 262,000 copies of their Infinity On High album.

Soul star Corinne Bailey Rae, who lost out at last night's Brits, rises from 17 to 9 following her appearance at the Grammy awards last weekend.

The chart positions represent a resurgence for UK artists in the US following a decade-long fallow period.

Snow Patrol and KT Tunstall currently have top 40 singles, and both James Blunt and Lily Allen have scored top 20 albums in the last year.

Bloc Party, who entered the UK album charts at number two on Sunday, are due to support their success by touring the US next month.

The band had to abandon a US tour last year after drummer Matt Tong suffered a collapsed lung.
