George Harrison died of cancer at the age of 58 in November 2001 |
Ex-Beatle George Harrison, comic book creator Stan Lee and actress Cate Blanchett are to have their own stars on Hollywood's Walk of Fame in 2008. Celebrities are chosen by a committee, which each year sifts through several hundred nominations from the worlds of film, TV, theatre and music.
Musical acts to be recognised include Red Hot Chili Peppers, Christina Aguilera and Ricky Martin.
Howie Mandel, host of US TV quiz Deal or No Deal, will also be given a star.
Oscar-winning actor Tim Robbins is also on the list, along with the Munchkins - a group of more than 100 dwarves who appeared in classic film The Wizard of Oz.
All of those chosen were being honoured "for a combination of professional achievement and community involvement", according to Hollywood's honorary mayor, Johnny Grant.
Their stars will appear on a section of Hollywood Boulevard, which has been set aside for Walk of Fame since 1960.
