Walters began her career as a writer on the Today Show |
Veteran US TV personality Barbara Walters has been awarded with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The journalist and presenter is best known for her big name interviews and now fronts daytime talk show The View, which she also produces.
Her star in front of the Kodak Theatre sits between those for Destiny's Child and American Idol host Ryan Seacrest.
"This strange alignment makes me hip and hot," the 77-year-old told reporters at the unveiling ceremony.
"I have to say that my producers are very happy about this star because they can all walk over it and one of them is going to sit on it," she added.
Walters is in the running at the Daytime Emmy awards as both host and producer for her show - the winners will be announced on Friday.
The journalist has interviewed many top politicians over the years including Boris Yeltsin, Margaret Thatcher and Indira Gandhi.
