The creators of Extras, Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, must compete against each other in the best TV actor category at the British Comedy Awards. Peep Show double act David Mitchell and Robert Webb are also in the running for best actor, and their show is listed with Extras under best comedy.
Catherine Tate is up for best actress while Ant and Dec, Harry Hill and Paul Merton compete for top personality.
The awards will be presented in London by Jonathan Ross on 13 December.
Spoof celebrities
Tate faces competition from Katherine Parkinson, nominated for her role in The IT Crowd, and Tamsin Greig's portrayal of a scatterbrained doctor in Green Wing, also on Channel 4.
And Parkinson is also listed in the category for best female newcomer, which includes singer Charlotte Church, who now has her own chat show, and Miranda Hart from BBC Two's Hyperdrive.

Alan Carr and Justin Lee Collins of The Friday Night Project will compete in the male newcomer section. E4's Russell Brand and Kevin Bishop from Star Stories, a spoof celebrity series, are also in that category.
Star Stories has a nomination for best new comedy, along with Suburban Shootout, shown on Five and Paramount Comedy, and BBC Two's That Mitchell and Webb Look.
And in one final recognition for Gervais and Merchant, the US remake of their show The Office - which features Steve Carell - is shortlisted for best international comedy, against Larry David's Curb Your Enthusiasm and Everybody Hates Chris, starring Chris Rock.
