Minogue had a lump removed from her breast in May |
Pop star Kylie Minogue says writing her first fictional book proved to be therapeutic while she was recovering from breast cancer treatment. The Showgirl Princess, which is aimed at young children, is about a girl's rise to stage fame.
"I met with publishers while I was having treatment, it was therapeutic to be working on something," she said.
The 38-year-old, who was diagnosed with the illness last year, starts touring Australia in November.
'Perfect timing'
Minogue says having cancer treatment actually gave her the space to write the book.
"I had time, it would have been one of those projects that I would have had to squeeze in amongst a zillion other things. It's perfect timing," she said.

The singer admits the idea of the book came from her actor boyfriend Oliver Martinez but said she has always had an interest in writing.
"Way back to when I was in primary school I used to do little drawings and stories. My Dad will love this, he's always said, 'one day you're going to write a children's book'," she said.
The star is now trying to get back to full fitness for her tour which comes to London in 2007.
