US chat show host Ellen DeGeneres has escaped a three-car smash in Los Angeles with minor injuries.

A female driver crashed into the back of a car which collided with DeGeneres' Porsche, which was waiting at traffic lights on Sunset Boulevard.

A 52-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of drink driving.

"Ms DeGeneres had a little neck and back pain, but it doesn't look like anything serious," Sgt Ken Buscarino of LA police told the Associated Press.

Awards

A female passenger travelling with DeGeneres complained of back pain, while the star's car suffered moderate damage.

The woman driver who was arrested sustained cuts on her leg, while two men in their 20s who were driving the middle car suffered scratches.

No medical assistance was required at the scene of the accident, police added.

DeGeneres, 48, won Daytime Emmy awards for best talk show and best show two years in succession for her programme, which first aired in 2003.

From 1994-8 she starred in her own sitcom, Ellen, and hosted the primetime Emmy Awards in 2005.
