Snow Patrol's Eyes Open topped the UK album charts in May |
Northern Ireland band Snow Patrol has postponed its North American tour to allow singer Gary Lightbody to recover from polyps on his vocal chords. "I'm so sorry but I've been advised by the doctor to not do any shows for a month," he said on the band's website. "My singing voice is extremely weak."
The tour began on 23 May in Denver and had been due to run until 27 June.
The cancelled shows will now take place between 6 and 30 September. The group's upcoming UK dates remain unchanged.
"If I could do this tour right now I would," Lightbody told fans.
"But I'm worried to go against doctor's advice would lead to serious, even irreversible problems further down the line."
Snow Patrol's latest release Eyes Open topped the UK album charts in May and are currently at 76 in the US Billboard 200.
The band are due to perform in Leeds and Nottingham next month before heading off to Seoul and Tokyo.
